Care & Repairs
Keeping your jewellery beautiful for years
Everyday care
Fine jewellery is durable, but it is not indestructible. Put it on last when you dress, after perfume, hairspray and lotion, and take it off first when you undress. Remove it before swimming, bathing, exercising, cleaning or cooking, and before any activity where it could be knocked or scratched.
Cleaning by material
Gold and platinum: soak for a few minutes in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap, brush gently with a soft toothbrush, rinse well and pat dry with a lint-free cloth.
Silver: wipe with a soft silver polishing cloth. Tarnish is natural and is easily removed; avoid abrasive pastes on plated or textured finishes.
Diamonds and hard gemstones: the same gentle soap and water method works well and restores their sparkle. Do not use ultrasonic cleaners unless a jeweller has confirmed they are safe for your piece.
Pearls and softer stones: wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth only. Never soak them, and avoid soaps, ultrasonic cleaners and steam.
Storage
Keep each piece separately in a soft pouch or a lined compartment so pieces do not scratch one another. Fasten chains and bracelets so they do not tangle, and store silver in an airtight bag to slow tarnishing. Keep jewellery away from damp bathrooms, direct sunlight and heat.
What to avoid
Chlorine, bleach and household cleaners can damage or discolour metals and stones. Perfume, sweat and cosmetics can dull the surface over time. Avoid wearing delicate pieces during heavy manual work, and never use toothpaste or abrasive powders to clean jewellery.
Regular check-ups
Once a year, have rings, earrings and bracelets checked for loose stones, worn prongs and weak clasps. A quick inspection now prevents a lost stone later. Please contact us and we will tell you how to bring or send your piece.
Repairs and resizing
If a piece is damaged or no longer fits, write to us with your order number and a few photographs. We will assess it and let you know what can be done, how long it will take and what it will cost before any work begins. Pieces are covered by our 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects; damage from accidents, misuse or ordinary wear is repaired at a charge.
